- Applications for Housing and Rent Assistance Benefit are completed on 2 different online portals.
- You can apply for housing through our online Housing Application Portal.
- For the Rent Assistance Benefit or Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit, please complete your application through the Civida Benefit Portal.

Housing Application Process
This process applies only to applications for Civida managed homes. For Rent Assistance Benefit programs, review our Rent Assistance webpage.
- Provide information about your family situation and income
- Indicate the specific home(s) you want to live in
- You may upload supporting documents at this time, should you choose to do so (this is not required for the initial application; however, once an offer is received, it must be completed within 48 hours)
- Your application is reviewed and point scored according to the requirements in the Social Housing Accommodation Regulation (SHAR).
- The higher points an applicant has, the higher their priority is. Understand your point score by viewing this Point Scoring and Priority List Information Sheet.
- Reminder: Once you receive an offer from Civida, you will have 48 hours to upload all necessary documents to your application.
Civida Application Portals
PLEASE NOTE: Applications for Civida Housing, and Rent Assistance Benefit programs are made through 2 separate online portals.
- Applications for Housing are submitted and managed through the Housing Application Portal – RentCafé.
- Applications for Rent Assistance Benefit program are submitted and managed through the Civida Benefit Portal.
- To apply for both housing and Rent Assistance Benefits, complete applications on both portals.

- To apply for housing, including –
- Community (social) Housing
- Near Market & Student Affordable Housing
- Market Housing
- To check the status of your Housing application
- To update information on your application for housing
Civida Benefit Portal
Use the Civida Benefit Portal:
- To apply for Rent Assistance or Temporary Rent Assistance
- To check the status of your Rent Assistance or Temporary Rent Assistance
- To update information on your application for Rent Assistance or Temporary Rent Assistance
- To provide your Annual Income documents for your Rent Assistance or Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit.
Ensure that your application remains active by logging in and updating your application at least once every 12 months on the Housing Application Portal (RentCafé) or Civida Benefit Portal.

I want to apply for both Housing and Rent Assistance Benefits. Which portal do I use to apply?
Both portals.
Applications for housing are submitted through the Housing Application Portal, and applications for Rent Assistance Programs are through the Civida Benefit Portal.
To apply for both housing and Rent Assistance, you will need to complete a separate application on each platform.
This means that you will complete 2 separate applications, one for housing on the Housing Application Portal – RentCafé, and a second for Rent Assistance on the Civida Benefit Portal.

I have already applied for housing and/or rent assistance. With the new portal, what happens to my application?
Your application has been received, and your information will be automatically updated on the relevant portal.
You DO NOT need to re-apply.
