Civida builds communities, not just houses. Many of our partners have offices on Civida sites to reduce barriers to services, strengthen connections, and support long-term housing stability.
Affordable Home Ownership | Habitat For Humanity
Interested in affordable homeownership? Habitat For Humanity build homes in family-friendly communities and sell them to qualifying homeowners. Habitat homeownership requires the homeowner to volunteer 500 hours, but there is no down-payment for the home. Each homeowner has affordable monthly payments that bring stability to their housing situation.
Africa Centre
Located at the Circle Square complex (11808 St Albert Trail NW #106), the Africa Centre is the largest pan African non-profit organization in Western Canada, serving as a community hub that provides many programs and services from a place of cultural awareness and competency to the families in our diverse community.
They offer senior services, youth programming and counselling clinics.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
Located at Edmonton Hillview I (1 Edmonton Hillview One NW) in District E and at Dunluce II (2 Dunluce Rd. NW) in District F, AA provides support for individuals who want to overcome their drinking problem. Helping to better understand alcoholism, AA can help remove some of the stigmas around the disease of alcoholism and help support those afflicted. Open meetings are available to anyone interested in Alcoholics Anonymous’ program of recovery from alcoholism. Non-alcoholics may attend open meetings as observer. Alberta Immigrant Women & Children Centre (AIWCC)
Located at Sakaw I (1275 62 St. NW) in District D, they provide relevant and inclusive frontline services that meet the specific needs of immigrant women and families and provides resources and shares knowledge to empower women and families in Alberta. Through community collaborations, AIWCC creates programs and promotes opportunities that build connections to support healthy and vibrant communities. At Sakaw I, they offer employment programs, language programs, settlement programs, women empowerment, youth programs, family counselling, case management and halal food hampers and are a community resource hub.
Amity House
Located at Dickinsfield I (9203 145 Ave. NW) in District F and Londonderry (14540 72 St. NW) in District H, they are a community support and family resource centre with many wraparound services. They provide a wide range of programs and services to individuals and families in the community that are designed to foster a sense of community, build relationships and reduce social isolation. At Civida sites, they offer drop-in services, assisting with paperwork and documents, community lunches and kitchens, books for kids, clothing banks, community gardening, peer connection programs and therapists for momentum. Dickinsfield uses the space full time and Londonderry shares the space with other partners.
Bahai Group (Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Edmonton)
Located at Hillview I (1 Edmonton Hillview One NW) in District E, Bahai Group are a part of a worldwide community that applies the teachings of the Bahai Faith to their personal and collective lives. They reflect the diversity of Canada, including Indigenous peoples, first generation immigrants and multi generational Canadians of all backgrounds. At Hillview I, they offer children, youth and parent classes, cultural studies, ladies in the community’s weekly tea, and having many volunteers who speak multiple languages.
Bethel Community Church
Located at Clareview II (2404 139 Ave. NW) in District G, they are often referred to as Bannerman and they work in partnership with the Bannerman Community League. At Clareview, they offer kids club, emergency food, money support, education for kids, youths and families, coats for kids, spring yard clean ups and community garden support. The programs happen on Wednesdays and they share the space with the Family Centre.
Black Canadian Women (BCW) In Action
Located at Youngstown (16604 102A Ave. NW) in District C, BCW in Action is a bilingual charity committed to making a difference in the lives of Black Canadian communities. They bring people together to provide them with opportunities to develop personally and professionally; through advocacy, education, leadership, networking and skill building and more. They also conduct research and compile data to share the findings on social, cultural, and economic aspects of Black communities. At Youngstown, they offer business programs and training for employment, Empower Young Black Girls and Women programs, Inner Child Series for boys and girls, self-expression through cultural heritage, black Fellowship programs for girls, summer camps, active women program and kitchen collective. They are also partnered with Norquest to offer education in AI and tech.
BGC Bigs
Located at Duggan (10512 36A Ave. NW) and Sakaw I (1275 62 St. NW) in District D, Tweddle Place (8308 42A Ave. NW) in District E, Rundle Heights I (3303 106 Ave. NW) in District G and Londonderry (14540 72 St. NW) in District H. BGC Bigs is committed to the healthy development of all children and youth. They provide a diverse array of mentoring and after school programs to meet the needs of the community, so they have the tools and supports they need to be successful in life. At Civida sites, they offer after-school programming, youth mentoring, PRISM-2SLGBTQ+, school-based programming and youth networking services.
Bright Light Multicultural
Located Dunluce IV (11930 162 Ave. NW) in District F, they are a non-profit organization that creates an inclusive, effective and culturally sensitive space for youth that face complex physical, behavioural, and cognitive disabilities. They also provide specialized programs catering to immigrant youth with disabilities and support their cause by addressing the multiple challenges and barriers youth encounter. Bright Light Multicultural strives to bridge gaps by fostering an environment of understanding, acceptance and equal opportunity for everyone. They collaborate with schools and community organizations to establish a supportive network that encourages growth, independence and inclusion for their clients and their families. At Dunluce IV, they offer day programs, consultation services, skills training, rehabilitation services and respite care.
CANDORA Community Action for Children
Located at Abbottsfield (324 Abbottsfield Rd. NW) in District G, Candora promotes a healthy, supportive network for positive growth in women, children and families in our communities. Candora connects people by increasing the understanding of each other, reducing isolation and building up the individuals they serve. Some areas they cover with their programming: ESL learning, digital literacy skills training, women’s empowerment groups, baby and me programs. At Abbottsfield, they offer adult learning programs, pre-school, family and community programs, resource centre, community lunch and parenting coffee chat groups.
Centre for Newcomers
Located at Ermineskin II (10727 24 Ave. NW) in District D, they help newcomers bridge their transition to the community. The Centre for Newcomers does this by creating pathways for success that are accessible, inclusive and responsive to the unique needs of newcomers at all stages of their settlement journey. They give them the tools, connections and resources they need to build fulfilling lives, contribute meaningfully to their new community and fully engage in all that Edmonton has to offer. They currently have English as Second Language classes on Monday and Wednesdays. At Ermineskin II, they offer employment services, language services, settlement information sessions, community resources, empowerment programs and conversational circles for seniors.
Community Services in Alberta | 211 Alberta
211 is an essential service that helps Albertans find the right resource or service for whatever issue they need help with, at the right time. 211 is available 24/7 by phone, text and chat. The service is free, confidential and available in over 170 languages over the phone.
The Family Centre
Located at Lymburn (7403 180 St. NW) in District C, Steinhauer I (10703 31 Ave. NW) in District D, Clareview II (2404 139 Ave. NW) and Hermitage III (1181 Hyndman Rd. NW) in District G. The Family Centre offers Roots and Wings services to residents, providing voluntary free in-home family support, and supports a wide-variety of programming tailored to the unique needs of residents. In addition to services provided on site at these Civida locations, The Family Centre provides access to counselling services, therapy groups, domestic violence supports, and a wide-variety of workshops and training. The Family Centre is a safe space for everyone. People of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, experiences, gender expressions, gender identities, religions, and sexual orientations are welcome to access our services. They believe in empowering families and children to thrive by connecting people with one another, improving mental health and well-being, and providing resources and tools that strengthen families.
Family Futures Resource Network (FFRN)
Located at Ekota I (1703 Mill Woods Rd. NW) in District D and Richfield III (3704 78 St. NW) in District E, FFRN builds on the strengths of individuals and families through connection, support and education to create a better future for the families within our communities. They also provide drop-in programs at Terwilliger and Meadows Rec centers, have numerous events to bring families together, and share food bank Fridays. At Civida sites, they offer children and early childhood programs, parent and child connections, child and youth programming, caregiver education and supports, therapy for children and families and community resource navigators. They are also partnered with the Family Centre, Amity House and Red Rose. Family Futures Resource Network uses this space full-time.
Jasper Place Family Resource Centre (JPFRC)
Located at Primrose I (9606 180 st. NW) in District C, JPFRC is a non-profit organization whose mission is being a place of belonging where children, families, team members, partners and our surrounding communities, co-imagine, co-develop, and model leading practices in early learning & care and family support. An inclusive organization where children and families of all abilities, experiences and world views are welcome and invited to participate. At Primrose they offer a variety of drop-in and registered early learning programs. They are also able to connect participants to parent programs, other community resources, programs and services upon request.

Kameyosek Out of School Association
Located at Kameyosek I (6904 29 Ave. NW) in District E, Kameyosek Out of School Association provides after-school programs for children. They aim to support working families by offering children a safe and nurturing environment outside of regular school hours. They focus on promoting social, emotional and academic development of children. And they offer a variety of activities and programs to support the well-being of the children in their care. They use our space full-time.
Kara Family Resource Centre
Located at Dunluce IV (11930 162 Ave. NW) in District F and Belvedere II (5516 134 Ave. NW) in District H, Kara Family Resource Centre supports a brighter future for families and communities through supportive programs and services that are rooted in education, connection and acceptance. Building meaningful relationships with clients by meeting every person and family where they are in their current life and family circumstances creates a safe and inclusive experience that supports clients in their parenting and family life. At Civida sites, they offer one-on-one parenting support, help navigating systems, milestone check-ins, health for two, after-school adventures (ages 6-12), kids in the kitchen (ages 6-9) and books and bites for parents and children (ages 0-6).

The City of Edmonton developed a neighbourhood response tool that helps you make the right call at the right time. It covers a range of situations from witnessing vandalism, intoxication and substance abuse to property and business concerns and provides tangible steps to increase safety and minimize risk.

Connect with Norwood and other families in your community with their fun and free drop-in parent-child groups. These groups help you boost your child’s learning and development through play!
Riverbend ROCKS
Located at our Brander Gardens location (14902 51 Ave. NW) in District C, Riverbend ROCKS is a community-based non-profit that provides wrap-around support to low-income families in the Riverbend area of Edmonton and surrounding communities. They provide summer programs during the months of July and August with the support of community members. Older youth rec programs help engage younger kids and youth (7-18 years of age) in a safe and friendly environment every Friday night at the Riverbend Junior High School. These programs and activities strengthen social and emotional development with the children and is an opportunity for intergenerational engagement with parents and neighbors. They offer group tutoring, 1:1 for English, Social and Science studies, after school programs for children after 12 and older youth rec programs at Terwillegar Community Rec Center.
Skills Society
Located Inglewood Manor (11424 124 St. NW), Lendrum (11442 60 Ave. NW) and Parkdale II (8239 113 Ave. NW) in District A, O’daymin Village (10350 95 St. NW) in District B and Greystone Manor (17115 108 St. NW) in District F. Skills Society is a non-profit organization that provides support services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, survivors of brain injuries and their families. This may involve a few hours of outreach support each week. For others, it involves 24/7 supported community living. Skills society provides people with disabilities with the same opportunities and choices, the same ability to share their gifts and talents and the same sense of belonging that we all enjoy. Offices are located at O’daymin and Inglewood.
Somali Canadian Cultural Society
Located at Londonderry (14540 72 St. NW) in District H, the Somali Canadian Cultural Society meets the needs of Somali and African communities in Edmonton and the surrounding areas. They provide education, counselling and other support services for refugees and immigrants in need, including language instruction, mental health workshops, translation services and other settlement services to assist newcomers to Canada. Programs run Monday to Friday during the day; they do share this space and work collaboratively with Amity House. At Londonderry, they offer youth homework and tutoring, special academic programs, settlement assistance like resume writing and navigating of systems, united way connection for coats for kids and health kits.
University of Alberta
Located at Ermineskin II (10727 24 Ave. NW) in District D, sharing the space with Edmonton Center for Newcomers. Humanities 101 is a University of Alberta course that offers free, non-credit university to community members that recognizes multiple ways of knowing while providing a collaboration learning space. This program encourages critical thinking and is not focused on the individual, but on the larger, societal issues that drive systems of oppression. It also recognizes that many people want to participate in learning and sharing, but they do not have access to university classrooms, so they come to you! The Humanities 101 program includes all materials, transportation and snacks.
